Wakiso Giants look to be in the driving seat for the signature of Lawrence Bukenya.
The 21-year-old is reported to have agreed on personal terms with the purple sharks who finished 10th in the league last season. The midfielder who has been out of action since February 18 after he was hauled off in 2-1 win over the Maroons due to injury will be hoping to make his season-long loan from KCCA permanent.
The UPL debutants confirmed on their official Twitter page that they had agreed personal terms with the player and they were also trying to agree to a deal with his parent club KCCA FC.
“We have opened up talks with KCCA FC to sign Bukenya Lawrence on a permanent deal! personal have been reached and we expect to close business before the DeadlineDay Live #WeAreThePurpleSharks #PrideOfWakiso,” a tweet on Wakiso Giants’ official twitter page read.
After the deal is complete, Bukenya who has been training alone due to the pandemic will be hoping for football to return again so that he pays back the trust shown in him by the Purple sharks’ coaches following him beating his injury woes. “I feel okay now and I believe by the time the league returns, I will be 100% fit,” Bukenya told the club website back in April.
“For now, am working on my own due to the lockdown but will probably resume with my teammates in preparations for the final games.
With the season he was preparing for already canceled due to the COVID 19 pandemic, the former KCCA FC industrious midfielder will be keen for the new season to kick on soon rather than later so that he can showcase the skills and talent he got in his locker.
