The Ministry of Health has announced that Uganda has registered its sixth COVID-19 death today, 7 August with a new number of 31 confirmed cases.
The deceased was a 70-year-old Ugandan male residing in Natete, Kampala. On 24th July 2020, he presented at Rubaga Hospital with signs and symptoms similar to coronavirus victims. Further investigation revealed that he was a diabetic, therefore, making him a high-risk factor for COVD-19.
He was later referred to Mulago National Referral Hospital on 28th July upon deteriorating health at Rugaba Hospital. He passed away yesterday evening on 6 August 2020 in the Mulago Intensive Care Unit.
Similarly, 31 new COVID-19 cases were recorded from samples tested on 6 August 2020. Out of the new cases, 19 were alerts, 8 contacts from previously confirmed cases, and 4 truck drivers. Uganda has so far registered 1,254 cases of COVID-19.
