Uganda vs. Burkina Faso
Uganda Cranes will be looking to qualify for the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations when they host Burkina Faso at St Mary’s Stadium Kitende on Wednesday.
The Cranes who suffered a shock defeat to South Sudan in the last match in Kenya have a chance to redeem themselves at a ground they nicked South Sudan 1-0, this time though under a different head coach in Abdullah Mubiru.
Victory for Cranes could see them qualify with a game to spare depending on the result between South Sudan and Malawi, the other Group B fixture.
Uganda is currently second in the group with 7 points, one shy of Burkina Faso. Malawi are in 4 while South Sudan have 3 points.
While skipper Denis Onyango, forward Farouk Miya and defender Elvis Bwomono trained with the team on Tuesday morning, the Israel based trio of Timothy Awany, William Luwagga and Fahad Bayo arrived late and didn’t train with the team and it remains to be seen whether they will be named for the game.
Ronald Mukiibi and Abdu Lumala had light sessions on Monday when they joined the group and could be considered for the game.
The goalkeeper and left back are self-selected with Onyango and Joseph Ochaya expected to start.
The right back position could be occupied by either Nicholas Wadada or Mukiibi while Murushid Jjuko who has been in fine form at Express could partner with Halid Lwaliwa at center back.
With Khalid Aucho out, the midfield trio is expected to be Mike Azira, Taddeo Lwanga and Moses Waisswa.
Patrick Kaddu is expected to lead the line with support from Emmanuel Okwi and Farouk Miya.
