News reaching our desk is that a chopper belonging to Uganda People’s Defence Forces has been involved in a crash near Spennah beach, Entebbe.
UPDF has since confirmed ownership of the blue chopper through a tweet sent out by the spokesperson, Brigadier General Flavia Byekwaso, confirming 2pm incident.
“Today afternoon at about 2:15 pm, a jet ranger piloted by two cadet trainees on a mutual training flight came down immediately after take-off near Lido beach.” read the Spokesperson’s tweet in part.
Security has cordoned off the scene barring journalists and civilians from accessing the wreckage. The two cadet trainees have since been rushed to hospital by ambulances that were earlier dispatched to the now crime scene to ascertain their health.
We can confirm that an aviation team from the defence ministry has already reported to ground to investigate the mishap and no life has been lost.
