Tottenham’s Carabao Cup round three game at Leyton Orient has been called off due the players in the league two side testing positive for coronavirus.
Leyton Orient chairman Nigel Travis on Monday announced that a number of their first-team squad had tested positive for COVID 19 on the eve of their Clash with spurs.
Spurs sent doctors to Orient to make the tests on Monday after the league two side’s draw with Mansfield on Saturday. Following the results from the testing that was fully facilitated by Spurs, Orient was forced to contact the EFL and Spurs over their Carabao cup tie.
Leyton Orient chairman has confirmed that the league cup game will not be played due to the Corona Virus after they talked to the EFL.
“We have talked to the EFL and we are assuming this is a postponement,” said Nigel Travis
Despite the game being postponed, the chairman, who laments the loss of revenue, says that the league two side had players who were ready to play tonight. “We have a team ready to play and just to be clear, these are people who have been socially distanced, and haven’t had direct contact apart from playing the game. So we did have a team ready to play tonight.”
