Liverpool Football Club have completed a deal for the transfer of Thiago Alcantara from European Champions FC Bayern Munich, ending the speculation around his future that had lasted the whole summer.
Thiago, a graduate of the famed Barcelona La Masia academy, becomes Liverpool’s second signing this transfer window as he put pen to paper on a lucrative contract with the Kop.
Speaking to the club website, liverpoolfc.com he assured the Liverpool fans that it was a moment he had waited for for a long time and is very happy to call Anfield home.
“When the years are passing, you are trying to win as much as you can – and when you win, you want to win more. I think this club describes what I am as well; I want to achieve all of the goals, win as many trophies as possible,” he said.
Thiago started his career with La Liga giants Barcelona before joining Pep Guardiola at Bayern Munich where he had a trophy laden stint that climaxed with clinching this season’s UEFA Champions League trophy.
The 29-year-old who has won nine league titles and two champions leagues is however humble enough to know that he has to work hard to be selected by Jurgen Klopp “I must adapt to the team as fast as I can in the situation and the context that we are living right now,” he told the club website.
Thiago Alcantara becomes Liverpool’s second signing this summer joining Kostas Tsimikas who joined from Olympiakos. Thiago’s experience will surely play a big role this season.
