All-female ride-hailing service, Diva Taxi, has launched a breast cancer awareness campaign to go on for the entire month of October. Internationally, October is recognised as the breast cancer awareness month.
“Throughout October, we will be doing a breast cancer awareness campaign called the #DivaTaxiBreastCheque campaign,” reads a statement from Diva Taxi.

For every ride one takes with the service, the person will be gifted a free breast cancer examination. If the customer opts for an ultrasound, it will be at a discount. Diva Taxi has partnered with Rocket Health, Nakasero Hospital, and Alexandra Medical Center (AMC) to provide the healthcare, alongside Glim, a platform that celebrates and exalts women.
Breast Cancer is the third commonest cancer in Ugandan women, and Diva Taxi believes early detection is a huge step towards prevention. Some of the symptoms of breast cancer include – the presence of a lump in the breast, pain in the breast, swelling in areas near the breasts, discharge from nipple other than breast milk, change in the shape of the nipple, and swelling under the arm. In some cases, these may not be the sign of breast cancer but any of these signs should be reported to the doctor immediately.
For one to take part in the campaign:
