General Katumba Wamala, the Minister For Works And Transport has taken to social media to sound a warning to motorists who are not observing Government SOPs.
In a brief message, General Katumba Wamala noted that because motorists are now ignoring the COVID19 Guidelines, public transport may be put on hold again.
Fellow Ugandans, it has come to my attention that some taxi operators and motorists are not obeying the #COVID19 guidelines in place. With the increasing cases of community transmission, we may be forced to halt public transport.

Public transport had been halted in March in the wake of the COVID19 pandemic in Uganda but lockdown measures have since been relaxed and public transport accessible in July and forward. The minister argues that motorists are not strict on wearing masks, and the taxis are not observing social distance with their customers.
The country now counts 1,500 cumulative Corona virus cases with 66 new cases, the highest confirmed in one day in Uganda. Kampala has been put on high alert as the most cases are now coming from the country’s capital city.
