It was EPL deadline day drama in England as Manchester United and Chelsea managed wins to finish third and fourth respectively, with Aston Villa snatching a draw to survive relegation.
At kickoff, both Man United and Chelsea needed draws to secure the Top 4, while Aston Villa too needed to avoid a loss to secure Premier League status for the next season.
Two first-half extra-time goals from Giroud and Mount put the Londoners in the driving seat on the road to a win and claim 4th place. Bruno Fernandes struck from the spot right before the second half drinks break and Lingard capitalized on Kasper Schmeichel lethargic playing in extra time to put the game to bed and send Man United to third.
“We want to learn to win games this way, play poorly but get the result. Everyone can obviously see the boys are tired but so is everyone else. Now, we get tougher games in Champions League, unlike what we have had in Europa so we have to be ready.”
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, Man United manager
Jack Grealish struck beautifully in the 84th minute to put Aston Villa in the lead, before Yarmalenko pulled West Ham level a little over a minute later. They held on to the result til the end of the whistle.

“What a result! It has been a tough restart but I am happy we have come through on top. When you see Jack (Grealish)score, you think the job is done then West Ham come back and you have to keep calm. We are going to celebrate tonight, then we shall start planning for next season tomorrow.”
Dean Smith, Aston Villa manager.
Liverpool were crowned Champions on Wednesday night, and Man City were confirmed runners up earlier on. Manchester United and Chelsea completed the Top 4. The loss for Leicester means they will miss out on Champions League, and play Europa League instead. Wolves dropped to 7th courtesy of the loss at Stamford bridge and Spurs victory, which means Spurs join the Foxes in Europa League next season.
Norwich have been joined by Watford and Bournemouth as the relegated sides, and they make way for already promoted Leeds United(Championship Winners), West Bromwich Albion (Runners-Up) and the playoff winner who will be determined later.
