The premier league have confirmed the start and end dates of the 2020/21 season.
The premier league issued a statement after their meeting on Friday that next season will start on September 12th, 2020, and end on 23rd May 2021. Players will be accommodated a three-week break ahead of the Euro that was postponed from June 2020 to June 2021.
Premier League shareholders today agreed to start the 2020-21 Premier League season on September 12, 2020.
The final match round of the campaign will take place on May 23, 2021. The Premier League will continue to consult the FA and EFL regarding the scheduling of all domestic competitions.”Statement
This current season had been temporarily suspended after it was interrupted by the coronavirus with cases being recorded at some clubs. However, football returned in June after the premier league conducted several tests and confirmed it was all safe to have football back.
The return of premier league action has seen Liverpool win the title for the first time in history, Manchester United move into champions league places and Norwich relegated ahead of final day matches on Sunday. Watford, Aston Villa, and Bournemouth will be battling it out for the 17th place on the final day to avoid joining Norwich in the championship
Next season’s Premier League has already confirmed two newcomers in Championship champions Leeds United and championship second-placed side West Bromwich Albion.
Brentford, Fulham, Cardiff, and Swansea will compete against each other in a playoff format and the winner will Join Leeds and West Bromwich Albion as the 2020/21 season newcomers.
