Teenagers who had been rounded up by police were on Friday evening released from Kira road police station.
The youngsters were arrested on Thursday for congregating in merrymaking, playing loud music while smoking shisha, a substance that was banned with the new tobacco law in place.
The arrest happened after police reacted to complaints from neighbors about teenagers playing loud music and “using drugs,” according to Kampala metropolitan deputy police spokesperson Luke Owoyesigyire. A number of them got away but police arrested 30.
Police released them to their parents, with the latter urged to keep keener eyes on their children and prevent them from being involved in any mischief during the lockdown.
