The 24th of August (8/24) was declared by the city of Los Angeles and Orange County honoring the legacy of Lakers Legend Kobe Bryant.
Kobe Bryant wore the numbers 8 and 24 on his back in his illustrous NBA career winning 5 NBA Championships finishing fourth-leading scorer in NBA history.
This year’s remembrance comes a day after what would have been his 42nd birthday. Kobe died in a helicopter crash on Jan. 26 along with his 13-year-old daughter, Gianna, and seven others while traveling to a youth basketball game in Ventura County.
The Lakers honored Kobe and Gianna Bryant on Monday by wearing special uniforms when they played the Portland Trail Blazers in Game 4 of a first-round playoff series.
