After a lot of international backlashes, the charges against Nigerian entertainers Omah Lay and Tems have been dropped, and the two, plus Muyiwa Awomiyi (Tems Manager), have been since released.
It is understood that the Nigerian contingent will be flying out of the country back to Nigeria tonight.
Tems and Omah were arrested by Ugandan security officers on Sunday evening on charges of a neglect act likely to sprerd a highly infectious disease according to section 171 of the Penal Code Act.
The two Nigerian performers had been invited to a concert hosted at Ddungu Resort in Munyonyo and organized by Kasana events on Saturday evening. Local Ugandan artists took social media to condemn the activity after images and videos from the even hit social media. This spurred action from security offices.
The war on social media to have the entertainers released got to the international community with Nigerian hitmakers and superstars expressing their disdain of how Uganda has treated those of their own. Many expressed how they had had a good time in Uganda when they were here and wondered how it all went South for their colleagues Omah Lay and Tems.
