Speaking at party headquarters today, party chair Hon. Robert Sentamu Kyagulanyi alias Bobi Wine launched an initiative to help the party raise money to help them during the 2021 General Elections campaigns.
The drive is dubbed ‘Muda Ku Muda’ (Luganda concoction for UGX 10,000 after UGX 10,000 ) which seeks to collect over UGX 1.7 trillion to support Mr. Kyagulanyi and the party’s various candidates.
“We know many people outside there would wish to do what we are doing but they don’t have time and others fear government frustrations. Through this campaign, we can all achieve and we call upon everyone to give in the name of the struggle,” Aishah Kabanda, the Chairperson of the Fundraising Committee said.
At the same event, the EC of the NUP was named and Mr. Masiwa Lukamba was appointed Chairman of the Electoral Commission of the National Unity Platform. He will oversee all electoral activities of the party.
Hon. Kyagulanyi cautioned the NUP EC, “Please avoid corruption one of the things why we are fighting this war is because of corruption that has dominated the government officials. Don’t discriminate against candidates based on their race, financial ability, age, or political positions. We want to set an example which will be followed by the rest.”
