The National Resistance Movement through the Chairmanship of H.E. Yoweri Kaguta Museveni recently emphasized that they would not in any way tolerate violence in their Party primaries and perhaps one might argue that they are keeping their word.
The news as gathered by our reporters from the N.R.M. Secretariat offices at Kyadondo indicate that the party’s Electoral Commision Chairperson, Dr. Tanga Odoi has just suspended the heated up Mawogola North Primaries. It was his contention that the violence in this constituency as a result of these Primaries has become unbearable and therefore deemed it fit to suspend the Elections until the situation settles.
The battle for this seat was between Shartsi Musherure, a daughter to the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Sam Kuteesa and Aine Godfrey Kaguta Sodo, a brother to the President of the Republic of Uganda, H.E. Yoweri Kaguta Museveni. This comes shortly after Dr. Tanga Odoi has announced the cancellation of elections in Mawogola West County, still in Sembabule district over violence in what was supposed to be a contest between the incumbent Joseph Ssekabiito Kitayimbwa and the Sembabule district MP Hanifa Bangirana Kawooya.
The Party Primaries national-wide are expected to be conducted today, the 4th of September, 2020
