The National Identification and Registration Authority (NIRA) offices in Wakiso are to remain closed till September 16 2020 after a policeman at the premises tested positive for Coronavirus after a series of mandatory screening.
This has prompted the temporary suspension of operations at the premises such as the issuance of National Identification Cards, birth and death certificates, replacement of lost, and errored ids until further notice.
Halting operations at the Wakiso offices will help contain the spread of the virus. Management of NIRA in a statement hopes to resume operations on 16th September 2020 after the premises have been disinfected as per the Ministry of Health guidelines.
Clients may however access all the services from any other NIRA office closer to them EXCEPT those whose National IDs were registered at the Wakiso office. NIRA wishes to encourage its clients and members of the public at large to continue observing the SOPs that were put in place by the Ministry of Health.
