Tech giants Microsoft have confirmed that the 25-year-old Internet Explorer browser has less than a year to live and will be no more after 17th August 2021.
According to a publication on their blog, using Internet Explorer mode in the new Microsoft Edge will not help to extend IE 11 access to Microsoft 365 apps and services beyond the dates listed above. Microsoft 365 apps and services will stop supporting IE 11 on the dates listed.
Microsoft Teams web app will no longer support Internet Explorer 11 – the most recent and final iteration of the browser – from November 30, 2020.
Internet Explorer will be replaced by Microsoft Edge which relies on Chromium developed by Google for Google Chrome. Edge differs from Chrome in a way that it allows you to turn on tracking protection by default, which blocks both advertisements and almost all third-party tracking code.
Chromium is now the basis of Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge, Brave, Vivaldi, Avast Secure Browser, and Opera.
