Arsenal youngster Matteo Guendouzi has joined Hertha Berlin on a season-long loan. The gunners confirmed his de[arture through a statement on their official website that read, “Midfielder Matteo Guendouzi has joined Bundesliga side Hertha Berlin on a season-long loan.”
The 21-year-old French man who joined the gunners in 2018, got frozen out of the team after his indiscipline at the Amex Stadium when football had just restarted following its suspension due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Despite Matteo featuring in the Gunners training session and also representing the French under 21 side, Arteta continued to leave the midfielder out of his squad which prompted the Guendouzi to hand in a transfer request which arsenal have further respected with sanctioning a loan deal with Hertha Berlin.
After not featuring in Arteta’s plans, Arsenal tried to offload the France under 21 captain to Lyon in a deal that would see Arsenal get Houssem Aouora but only for the deal to be rebuffed as the french side didn’t value Matteo.
Matteo who started his career at Paris Saint-Germain’s academy before joining Lorient will now leave Arsenal after making 82 appearances in all competitions.
Arsenal confirmed they had sent out Guendouzi to further his development as a player and also wished him well during his spell in German.” The loan deal is subject to the completion of regulatory processes. Everyone at Arsenal wishes Matteo well for the season” the club reported.
