Manchester city has signed Ruben Dias from Benfica on a five year contract.
The citizens have bolstered their defense with the acquisition of Benfica’s star defender in a deal believed to be around £50m.
The Manchester-based club, who were put to the sword by Vardy on Sunday in a 5-2 loss, has taken no time in showering up their defense as they hope to challenge Liverpool for the title.
Guardiola who had never conceded five goals in his coaching career was left unimpressed with the way his side defended but he will be hoping that his new acquisition can be a success.
The 23-year-old began playing for Benfica B in 2015 and was promoted to the first-team in 2017. In 2017, he was named the Primeira Liga’s Young Player of the Year.
The following season, Dias’ solid performances helped Benfica win the league title in the 2018–19 season and later the Supertaça Cândido de Oliveira during the 2019–20 season, while also being named in the Primeira Liga’s Team of the Year.
Dias will be hoping that his arrival at the Etihad can be a success as he hopes to help the citizens win more silverware.
