Manchester City have moved quickly to strengthen their squad ahead of the 2020/21 season with the capture of Valencia Sensation Ferran Torres.
Manchester City performed below their usual standards in the 2019/20 that saw them surrender their premier league trophy to Liverpool. However, Guardiola has moved quickly to halt “the decline” of his side by the capture of a young Spanish midfielder.
Torres has signed a five-year contract with the citizens from valencia in a €25 million deal. Manchester City to beat off strong competition from Europe’s elite clubs.
The Spanish international can operate as both a winger and through the midfield. He started his football career at Valencia’s joining their youth setup in 2006. Torres went through all Valencia’s football setups and in 2017 he was promoted to the senior team. In November 2017, he came on to replace his fellow academy player Gil to make his senior team debut in a 4-1 win against Real Zaragoza. On 16th December Ferran was awarded his La Liga debut and the rest is history.
Torres has now joined Manchester city and city fans will be hoping he can feel the void left by German winger Lorey sane who left the club to join Bayern Munich this summer.
The Happy lad will be hoping he can add something to a successful Pep Guardiola side that has dominated English football for the past two years.
“I’m so happy to be joining City. Every player wants to be involved in attacking teams & City is one of the most attacking in world football. Pep encourages a really open, aggressive style, which I love. To have him overseeing my development is a dream.”
Torres said after his Unveiling.
