Manchester United captain Harry Maguire has been found guilty of trying to bribe an officer and resisting arrest while he was on holiday in Greece.
Maguire was arrested with his brother and a friend after a fight broke out while he was on holiday in Mykonos, an island in Greece over claims his sister was injected with a suspected “rape drug.”
The 27-year-old defender was convicted with charges of aggravated assault, trying to bribe an officer and resisting arrest. Reports from Greece state that when an officer tried to confront the 2018 world cup semi-finalist, Maguire arrogantly questioned the officer if he knew who he was. “Do you know I am?” Maguire taunted. His arrogance proved costly as he and his brother were taken to police and charged.
Maguire was released to return to England after spending some hours in jail but now his charges have been confirmed by the court despite him, his brother, and his friend not being around in court.
The defender has received criticism from all over the globe for his actions but his national team coach has shown support for him by including him in national team squad to play international friendlies in September.
