Makerere University has confirmed that all Final Year Medical Students will resume the academic year on 3rd October.
“This is to inform all Final Year Medical Students that teaching and learning activities which were halted following the closure of educational institutions in a bid to prevent the spread of COVID-19, will resume on Saturday 3rd October 2020,” reads a statement on the Makerere website from the academic registrar, Namoah-Masikye Alfred.
Education, just like all sectors in the country, was put on hold when the lockdown was announced in March by the government to curb the spread of the coronavirus.
MAK insists SOPs, as instilled by the Ministry Of Health, will be in place and all students and staff will be required to respect them – the mandatory wearing of a clean mask covering the mouth and nose, social distancing, and washing of hands regularly and/or sanitizing hands.
The remainder of the semester shall cover 8 weeks (5 weeks for teaching and learning and 3 weeks of examinations).
