Liverpool FC has moved quick to strengthen its squad as they look to retain the premier league title this season with the capture of Wolverhampton striker Diogo Jota.
Jota has joined on a long term contract touted to be 5 years .
The 23-year-old joins the Premier League champions after three seasons with Wolves – two in the top flight, which included 67 appearances and 16 goals for the versatile forward.
The Portuguese international Jota also scored nine times in 14 Europa League outings in the 2019-20 season and opened his account for his country in a UEFA Nations League clash with Croatia earlier this month.
“It’s just a really exciting moment for me and my family. All of my life, since I was a kid and now, to join a club like Liverpool – the world champions – is just unbelievable. I just want to get started,” Jota told Liverpoolfc.com upon sealing the transfer on Saturday.
Liverpool fans will be hoping Jota can join their team with his goalscoring exploits that have made him a fan favorite among his now former club wolves.
The versatile forward will wear the number 20 shirt this season as he hopes to win silverware with the kop .
