Andrew Kigozi, KCCA’s new signing sent a goodbye message to Police FC fans with a heartfelt open letter on his Facebook page.
The Ugandan international who turned 22 in May left Police FC after enjoying a prolific season under the stewardship of coach Abdallah Mubiru.
Coach Abdallah Mubiru didn’t want the prolific winger to leave the club after he scored 5 goals and 4 assists but KCCA’s offer for the winger was too good to turn down.
The former Busiro Ace wrote an open to Police FC and the fans confirming his exit from a club in which he spent a single season. “Today I say goodbye to a magnificent club as it is Police Football. I want to thank the club for helping me become a better footballer and for making me feel at home during my time here.” Kigozi said
About a year ago Police FC, a club that will remain in my heart, gave me the amazing opportunity to play in Uganda Premier League. And for me scoring 5 goals and 4 assists in my first season is an achievement.
Kigozi who was a standout performer at Police last seasons contributing nine goals and assists combined in his first season in the premier league thanked his coaches for having helped him develop as a player. “After this year I can only say thank you to the club, my amazing coach Mr. Abdallah Mubiru for the trust, love, parental guidance he always had in me, May the God lord reward him and grant his desires as a coach. Thanks, coach Luyinda John, Ngabo Pius, and coach Kansole Richard.”
The 22-year-old also thanked the fans and teammates who supported him all season before it was halted by the coronavirus, he said in a statement on his Facebook official page. “Fans that have supported me since the first day I wore this jersey and of course thank you and good luck to my team-mates, who helped me settle in since day one not only as teammates but as friends.”
He then went ahead and said his goodbye words to Police FC and also wished them success in the future as he also hopes to succeed at his new club KCCA FC. “Today, I say goodbye to POLICE FOOTBALL CLUB but I take with me many memories, lessons, and great moments that will live with me forever. It has been one of the best years of my football career. At last I want to wish Police Fc many success for the future and thank the club for giving me the opportunity to sign from Busiro Fc(masaza),Kiboga young,Rifo sporting club,Kakiri TC clubs to which I want to give back all the trust they have given me and start a new season with many success at my new club KCCA FC Thank you with all my heart. ”
Kigozi will be hoping he can replicate the form that saw him move from playing in masaza to the Uganda premier league in space of one year at KCCA FC as he dreams of playing abroad .
