Ms. Sarah Kanyike is set to join the government on a ministerial card after president Yoweri Museveni nominated her as the new State Minister for Disabilities and Elderly.
Ms. Sarah Kanyike’s new appointment was confirmed in communication with members of parliament on the Appointments committee on 23rd July 2020 and we are waiting to see what this means for her earlier appointment at City Hall.
“Notice is hereby given that the appointments committee is scheduled for Tuesday, July 28, 2020, at 10 am on the basement floor of Parliament house to interact with Ms. Sarah Kanyike, the presidential nominee of Minister of State for Disability and Elderly.”
Statement
It should not be forgotten that President Museveni had in May nominated Ms. Kanyike as director for gender, community service and production in the new changes at KCCA that also brought in Ms. Dorothy Kisaka as executive director, replacing Engineer Andrew Kitaka who had acted since December 2018 when Jeniffer Musisi threw in the towel.
This move forced her boss Lord Mayor Erias Lukwago, who accused the president of undermining his powers to replace her with Makerere University Kampala Woman Councillor Doreen Nyanjura after giving her a three day ultimatum to reject the president’s appointment that she did not heed to.
