Yesterday, the Parliament’s Appointments Committee approved the appointment of Jessica Alupo as Vice President and Robinah Nabbanja as Prime Minister of Uganda.
The committee also approved former Speaker Rebecca Alitwala Kadaga as the First Deputy Prime Minister and first lady Janet Museveni as Minister of Education.
In a motion moved by Ruhinda North MP and Government Chief Whip designate Thomas Tayebwa, Alupo, a former Education minister, was unanimously approved by the House under Article 108 of the Constitution. Alupo, Katakwi Woman MP and Nabbanja were appointed Vice President and Prime Minister in a cabinet shuffle released June 08.
The retired major of the Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF) will serve as Uganda’s second lady vice President after Dr Specioza Naigaga Wandira Kazibwe (1994 to 2003).

In a similar motion moved by Chris Baryomunsi, the ICT Minister designate, Kakumiro Woman MP Robinah Nabbanja was also overwhelmingly approved as Prime Minister.
I commit to building on the foundation of my predecessor. This will be done through a link between the legislative and executive. This time, I promise that Ministers will attend parliament, and NRM Manifesto will effectively be implemented to transform Ugandans who are in subsistence farming into a money economy.Robinah Nabbanja
