Sevilla FC has confirmed today that Ivan Rakitic has joined them from Barcelona.
The Croatian international has left Barcelona to join the reigning Europa League champions on a four-year deal.
Rakitic spent three years with Sevilla and made 149 appearances in all competitions, winning the 2013-14 Europa League before making the switch to the Catalan giants in 2014. His spell at Camp Nou has been a successful one as he has managed to win 10 trophies with the Catalans including a champions league triumph in 2015.
The 32-year-old has returned to Sevilla for a second spell after spending six years away with Barcelona. “Sevilla FC and FC Barcelona have reached an agreement for the transfer of midfielder Iván Rakitic, who will return to the club for a second spell after his first spell at the club between January 2011 and June 2014,” a club statement read.
The 105 capped Croatian international will be hoping that he can replicate the same type of form for Sevilla fans as he displayed six years ago before leaving for Barcelona. In his first spell, Rakitic managed 32 goals and 41 assists in his 149 matches as a Sevilla player.
