Express FC has confirmed the capture of Ivan Mayanja from regional-based side CATDA FC with a statement on their official website that read, “Express FC has on Monday 26th October signed midfielder Ivan Mayanja from regional side CATDA FC”
The Red Eagles confirmed that the midfield youngster had signed a three-year deal with the wankululku based side and thus he will be expected to stay put until 2023.
The deal looked to be off as there were reports claiming that Mayanja had initially agreed to a deal in principle with Masaza based club Busiro who had offered him a short-term contract to represent them in the forthcoming Masaza cup. However, Express has ended the speculation of the deal collapsing by announcing the capture of Mayanja on a three-year deal.
After securing his move to the six-time StarTimes Uganda Premier League champions, the 20-year-old expressed his delight upon joining Express in a message to the fans that was displayed on the club’s official website” I am happy to have signed for Express FC, it’s a club I’ve always wanted to join and now that’s it done, the work starts immediately.”
He went ahead and gave an insight into the club’s goals ahead of the 2020/21 season that is scheduled to start on the 20th of November 2020″ I am ready to help the team achieve the desired goal which is winning silverware” he stated.
Mayanja who becomes Express’ 18th signing ahead of the new season and will be tasked with fighting for a starting berth with the likes of Abel Eturude, John Byamukama, and Ibrahim Kayiwa as Wasswa Bbossa looks to guide the Red Eagles to their first league title in over 8 years of waiting.
