The Ministry Of Health has confirmed that the country has registered 155 new positive coronavirus cases from samples done on 26th August 2020.
This brings the number of cumulative cases in the country to 2,679. To-date, 1,268 recoveries have been registered.
Nine (9) health workers tested positive with 6 coming from Kampala, 2 from Wakiso and 1 from Jinja.
Kampala remains a high alert zone as it contributed 71 of the 140 newly registered contacts and alerts to test positive for the virus. The other alerts are distributed as follows. Kikuube – 12, Jinja – 8, Wakiso – 8, Mbarara – 6, Mukono – 6 Tororo – 5, Gulu – 4, Kitgum – 3, Pader – 3, Gulu – 2, Buikwe – 2, Luweero – 2. Bundibugyo, Busia, Isingiro, Kapchorwa, Kasese, Kiryandongo, Kyegegwa, and Mbale have one each.
Uganda’s COVID19 deaths rose to 28 after 2 more were reported: one was a 58-year-old man from Kapchorwa while the other was a 59-yer-old man from Mbale.
