The Commissioner-General of Prisons, Dr Johnson Byabashaija, has offered a bounty for escapees of last week Prison break in Moroto.
Dr. Byabashaija, who is in Moroto currently on inspection duty following the escape of 219 prisoners on Wednesday 16th September, says he will reward anyone who recovers a gun with 1.5 million shillings while each person who surrenders a prisoner will be paid Shs. 500,000.
Dr Byabashaija admits there were some errors inside the prison that caused the mass escape in the Moroto Prison. He revealed that 14 inmates have been recaptured and seven killed – giving a total of 21 inmates so far accounted for.
Dr Byabashaija’s visit comes days after a team from Prison headquarters camped in Moroto to investigate the Prisons break. No gun has been recovered yet and according to the Prisons Spokesman, Frank Baine, some of the prisoners have crossed to neighboring Kenya.
