Fulham beat Brentford in the EFL Championship playoff final to return to the Premier League after a season of playing in the championship .
The two London sides played out a no score ninety minutes but two extra-time goals from Fulham’s Defender Joe Bryan confirmed Fulham’s return to the promised land, despite a late consolation for Brentford.
The English right-back struck in the 105th through a free-kick and then later added a second after interchanging passes with Fulham’s marksman Alexander Mitrovic.
Brentford only managed to score a late consolation goal by Henrik Dalsgaard but it was no enough to win them promotion.
Scott Parker’s men missed out on direct promotion to West Brom with just a single point but they’ve now won their promotion through the playoff. They overcame Cardiff in the semi finals and have also beaten Brentford to return to the premier league on the bounce.
Scott Parker will be hoping to avoid making the same mistakes that were made by his predecessors that had initially brought the London side back to the premier as he aims to make them an ever-present Premier League side again.
Joe Bryan, the team’s hero brushed away claims he was the hero of the night pouring praise on all his teammates for the shift they put in to overcome an impressive Brentford side.
I’m not the hero, every single one of them, fans and people around us who have been with us all season is.Bryan told Sky Sports
“We’ve been written off five, six, seven, eight, nine, 10 times, I think I read somewhere we were supposed to be scared of them.
“We took it to them, we scored twice, they made it hard for us but they’re a good team and they’ve been playing really well.
“I can’t believe we made it straight back up.”
The result sees Fulham return to the Premier League after being relegated following the 2018-19 campaign, to join Leeds United and West Brom as the promoted teams
