On 12th August, 2020, Former Spy Chief Rtd. Lt. Gen. Henry Tumukunde threw his hat into the ring as he officially launched his Presidential bid in an attempt to unseat his former boss H.E. Yoweri Kaguta Museveni as President of the Republic of Uganda.
During his speech that day at his Pressure Group – A Renewed Uganda’s headquarters, Tumukunde hinted on how his reign would be a youth-driven one as the young people have often been marginalized and disregarded while planning out and implementing government programs.
A newsworthy tip indicates that the retired General is not about to go back on his word as he intends to appoint the Youthful Ivan Okuda as his spokesperson. Renown for his astonishing articulation of political issues, one can expect nothing but satisfaction for all that subject him to questions or listen to him speak.
Born in 1993, Ivan Okuda is on record for having started his journalistic work with Prominent Media Houses like New Vision as early as his O’Level shortly before he went to St. Mary’s S.S. Kitende where he was one of the best-performing students in his class. He further pursued a Bachelor of Laws at Makerere University in 2017 and a Post Graduate Diploma at the Law Development Center in 2019. This learned fellow is currently pursuing a Masters of Arts (Journalism and Media Studies) with a specialization in Media Law, Ethics, and Investigative journalism at the University of Witwatersrand, Johannesburg, South Africa on a Konrad Adenauer Stiftung (KAS) Media Scholarship.
We certainly believe he will be a good addition to the General’s task force.
