Richard Sebamala, a civil engineer turned political rival to Vice President Edward Ssekandi has been charged and remanded to Luzira Prison on charges of soliciting money under false pretence.
Sebamala was on Wednesday produced before a Nakawa Court Grade one Magistrate, Ponsiano Odwori who read the charges against him.
He profusely denied the charges against him and was sent to Luzira till 11th August when he’ll re-appear in court to know the status of the investigations in the matter.
Prosecution alleges that Sebamala on July 1st 2019 obtained 150 million UGX from a city businessman with intent to defraud.
Sebamala had already expressed interest in contesting against veteran Edward Ssekandi who has served as a Member of Parliament for Bukoto County Central constituency since 1996, leaving the constituency’s youthful population hungry for change.
