Engineer Dr. Baddru Kiggundu, the former Chairperson of Uganda’s electoral body, Electoral Commission, has today been appointed the Chairperson Board of Directors, National Water and Sewerage Corporation (NWSC).
The news was broken by State Minister for ICT Peter Ogwang while addressing the media and he confirmed that the decision to appoint the former EC boss that was given the green light by the cabinet sitting on Monday.
Engineer Dr Baddru Kiggundu replaces Dr Eng Christopher Ebal as Board chairperson as the latter’s term of office has expired.
At the same cabinet sitting, the Electricity Amendment Bill 2020 was passed Bill and will soon be brought to Parliament for debate.
The objective of this Bill among others is to provide for additional functions of Electricity Regulatory Authority, to increase funds allocated to the authority from 0.3% to 0.7% of the revenue received from generated electrical energy. The Bill also intends to empower the Minister to prescribe the procedure for the transfer of generation assets to the Government.
