The sweetest secret is out. Dr. Sarah Mubiru has today launched Aroma Honey Toffee today at Protea Hotel in Kampala.
An ardent reader of the bible, Dr. Mubiru says she drew inspiration for the candy from a verse that has stuck with her ever since she read it.
“Eat honey, my son, for it is good; honey from the comb is sweet to your taste. Know also that wisdom is sweet to your soul; if you find it, there is a future hope for you, and your hope will not be cut off.” (Proverbs 24:13-14)
Aroma Honey Toffee derives its uniqueness from its specific choice of raw materials and ingredients most notably choosing honey over sugar to maintain its “Healthy sweetness”.
Dr. Sarah Mubiru loved sweets, a rather interesting vice that stayed with her through school and adult life as a child.
Owing to her academic background (BSc in Agriculture, MSc in a similar field and Ph.D. in Natural Sciences from Makerere University), Dr. Sarah Mubiru knew she’d soon realize the day she launched her own product.
Most of her work was in line with research and consultancy, which meant attending many workshops and conferences.
Aroma Honey Toffee comes in four flavors; Coconut, Peanut, Coffee and Ginger and a pack of 12 goes for UGX 20,000. Aroma Honey toffees have a shelf life of 2 weeks, but that can be extended when you keep them in the fridge.
Aroma Honey Toffees are sweets/candies produced from honey and contain zero processed sugar.
Geoffrey Mulwana, CEO of JESA Dairy Farm, the guest of honor, expressed his delight to share in this important milestone for Uganda’s business sector as we continue to promote locally made products under the umbrella— Buy Uganda Build Uganda( BUBU).
“Six years of hard work, self-belief and a dream have brought us here today for the launch of this amazing product. I agreed to be here today because I strongly believe in supporting entrepreneurship, especially when it’s homegrown and female-empowering as this project is,” he noted.
Dr. Sarah Mubiru’s journey involved her quitting her full-employment job to realize her own dream. As a result, Dr.Mubiru started making Aroma Honey Toffee in 2015.
Honey contains numerous medicinal properties and is a source of numerous minerals useful to the human body. African honey is sourced from her flora, rich in health-giving and medicinal flora.
The honey toffees contain ginger, coconut, groundnuts and arabica coffee sourced from African farmers. Ginger is well known for improving digestion; coconut provides the body with disease-fighting antioxidants and groundnuts for their rich protein source.
Dr. Sarah Mubiru noted that the raw materials for the Toffees would be gotten from local producers such as the Arabica coffee from the eastern highlands of Uganda to benefit Uganda farmers.
