Uganda is set to receive 175,200 doses of AstraZeneca vaccines today, donated by the French embassy under the COVAX program, as confirmed by officials from the Ministry Of Health and Unicef Uganda.
Additional 175,200 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine from the COVAX facility will arrive in Uganda on Wednesday 16th June at 22:25 hrs.Ainebyoona Emmanuel, Senior Public Relations Officer – Ministry Of Health
This will be an addition to the 864,000 doses the country received in March and 100,000 more from the government of India. Currently, 786,160 people in the country have been vaccinated against COVID19 using the Astrazeneca vaccine.
The new consignment comes when the country is deep in the trenches in a battle with the second wave of the spread of the coronavirus. The wave has seen a rapid increase in positive cases reported, deaths registered, and left the country spread thin on oxygen support, ICU beds, and hospital space.
