The Ministry Of Health in Uganda has this evening confirmed that the country has registered the third death of COVID19.
This is the third person to succumb to the global scourge as of data to 30th July, with the first death being reported on 23rd July and the second coming 5 days later.
The deceased was a 67-year old male of Nigerian origin and a resident of Kisenyi in Kampala. He had symptoms consistent with COVID19 which include cough, fever, chest pain, difficulty in breathing.
A statement from the ministry indicates that the deceased sought prior medical assistance at a private clinic before he was later referred to Kiruddu, where he passed on on 29th July 2020.
There were scares of another COVID19 related death from Namisindwa, where the very first victim to succumb to the virus was reported, but the ministry clarifies that samples indicate that the person tested negative for the Coronavirus.
Results from COVID-19 tests done on 30 July 2020 confirmed 7 cases bringing the cumulative total of confirmed Ugandan cases to 1,154. To date, the country has registered 1,028 recoveries.
