Five staff of Parliament have tested positive for Covid-19.
Parliament’s assistant director communication and public affairs, Helen Kawesa, confirmed that these results were realized after testing done at the August House this week.
Parliament is now suspended temporarily, with disinfection the next step. The five positive cases have been reached out to and treatment is already ongoing. Furthermore, their immediate contacts at the house have been asked to self-isolate and adhere to treatment, while more contacts are being traced.
Uganda registered two more deaths to COVID19 today bringing the total to 35, while 65 new coronavirus positive cases were recorded from 4,540 sampled tested and this brings the cumulative number of cases in Uganda to 3,353.
