Police has this afternoon released comedians Bizonto and Kandongo Kamu great Gerald Kiweewa without any charged pressed against them.
Police failed to file any solid charges against them, according to Lawyer Shamim Malende.
The spokesperson of the Directorate of Criminal Investigations Charles Twiine said last week that the four comedians dubbed Bizonto were arrested at Radio Simba premises Friday while Gerald Kiweewa, a local folk singer, was arrested Thursday (July 23) on a separate charge.
Bizonto had been arrested on allegations of promoting sectarianism and offensive communication. All this was decoded following a compilation they shared on social media where they said UNRA, BOU, URA, Ministry of Finance, ISO, NSSF, EC, Police, UPDF and CMI are all headed by people who hail from the same region.
The charge for Kiweewa has since not come to light after ex-Minister Nantaba stayed far away from the situation denying police reports that she had pressed charges. Police have since come out to say Nantaba didn’t file any such charges. The issues stem from a song titled “Nantaba” released by Gerald Kiweewa.
