Chelsea has continued to splash the money as they look to win silverware next season with the capture of England international Ben Chilwell.
Ben Chilwell has joined Chelsea in a fifty million pound deal that has seen him put pen to paper to a five-year deal. He has decided to leave Leicester, the club at which he started his football career. He said this move is due to the need to win honors with his new team Chelsea under the guidance of Lampard.
The 23-year-old is now Chelsea’s third signing after they confirmed the capture of Ajax’s Ziyech and Timo Werner earlier in the transfer window.
Chilwell joins Chelsea after establishing himself as one of the best fullbacks in the premier league over the past five seasons. The left-footed defender made his debut in October 2015 when he was 18 and he followed that up with over 120 appearances scoring four goals.
Chilwell who has 11 caps to his name showed his delight to join the club and is hoping to win trophies with his new side, ‘I am delighted to be joining Chelsea at this very exciting time for the club. I’m looking forward to being a part of this young, dynamic squad led by Frank Lampard as we challenge for honors next season.
I can’t wait to get started and hopefully it won’t be long before we’re playing in front of the Chelsea fans at Stamford Bridge.’ – Chilwell told Chelsea’s official website after putting pen to paper.
Chelsea fans will be hoping that their new signing can help provide solutions to their leaky defense that saw them concede 7 goals against Bayern Munich in the champions league.
