The tempo is reaching a critical level, and ahead of the 2021 General Presidential Elections, renowned NRM supporter Bebe Cool has hit the airwaves with a campaign song.
The “Silent Majority” chatterbox and Gagamel Entertainment CEO Moses Sali alias Bebe Cool has released a campaign song for the re-election of President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni titled “Mwongede Akalulu” which can be loosely translated to mean “I am re-electing him.”
According to Bebe Cool and the lyrics in the song, the NRA and Museveni are to thank for very many things Ugandans are enjoying today.
“From the fight against HIV/AIDS and the restoration of peace, you have been there for us. We shouldn’t forget you now,” says Bebe Cool in the song.
“This vote should be yours. We are passengers on this drive, and you are the driver,” Bebe Cool continues.
This is the second musical project with an election theme that Bebe Cool has participated in. He featured a host of other artistes in a 2015 song titled “Tubonga Nawe” in support of President Yoweri Museveni then. That particular song featured King Saha, Dr. Jose Chameleone, Juliana Kanyomozi, Ki Radiology, Weasel, Iryn Namubiru, Pastor Wilson Bugembe, Rema, Judith Babirye & Haruna Mubiru.
In 2010, Museveni did not wait for established musicians to campaign for him when he went ahead and released “Another rap,” seeking re-election the following year.
More famous campaign songs released in recent history include “Amelia” and “Patrico” all done by Dr. Hilderman. His song “Patrico” was a direct campaign anthem for local radio and TV host Patrico Mujuuka who was contesting for Nakifuma constituency’s parliamentary seat under the National Unity Platform. The MC has since lost the party primaries. Hilderman also released “Amelia” in 2010 to help popularize now Minister and Mawokota County North MP Amelia Kyambadde into parliament.
