Pierre Emerick Aubameyang’s future is settled after he agreed to sign on the dotted line for Arsenal. The Gabonese striker is said to have turned down offers from Barcelona and inter to stay with the gunners.
Arsenal broke the news that their captain had signed a new contract in a live video that was posted on their twitter official page.
The Gunners captain’s future was looking uncertain after it was touted that he wouldn’t be signing a new contract at the club with his contract only having one year left this summer.
However, the Gabonese international decided to trust Arteta’s new project and signed a new contract. He was thought to want away from the London club to move to Spain or Italy looking for silverware, but with Arteta at the helm, Aubameyang decided to commit his future to the gunners.
Aubameyang, 31, will now see his pay increase to become Arsenal’s highest earner in his new three-year contract compared to the one he first signed with the gunners back then in 2018 on his first arrival.
Arteta has been outspoken on how much he values the star striker stating on several occasions how he wants to build his Arsenal team around him and he will be delighted that his captain has extended his stay with the Gunners .
Aubameyang has been Arsenal’s top scorer since he made his debut in January 2018 against Everton in a 5-1 one win at the Emirates. The Gunners fans will be hoping he can continue his form for the next three years at the emirates as they chase a return to the champions league and a first premier league silverware ever since 2004.
