Arsenal have this afternoon announced the signing Martin Odegaard on loan from Real Madrid for the remainder of the season as Arsenal continues to strengthen their midfield having struggled during the start of the season.
The Norway international, who has 25 caps, joined Real Madrid in 2015 having started his footballing career with Stromsgodset, where he made his debut at 15-years in April 2014 making him the youngest-ever player to feature in the top division. He is the youngest player to player for the Spanish club where he made his debut aged 16 years and 157 days.
The 22-year-old has spent most of the last three seasons on loan at SC Heerenveen, Vitesse and Real Sociedad, scoring 14 goals across those spells.
On Arsenal’s website Arteta the manager said, “It’s great that we’ve secured Martin to come to us until the end of the season,”
“Martin is of course a player that we all know very well and although still young, he has been playing at the top level for a while.
“Martin will provide us with quality offensive options and we’re all excited to be integrating him into our plans between now and May.”Arteta added
After Omar Rekik and Mat Ryan , Odegaard becomes Arsenal’s third signing during the transfer window and will wear the No 11 . This comes prior to the preparations for the game between Arsenal and Manchester United at the Fly Emirates Stadium this weekend.
