Abel Kagumire and Richard Karisa have each been appointed Commissioner customs and Commissioner Corporate services at the Uganda Revenue Authority (URA) respectively.
This appointment was done through a special board meeting where the two emerged top in the written interviews conducted by the Staff Committee on Wednesday.
In a statement issued by URA, it was noted that on 26th August 2020, the Board of Directors had its fourth Board meeting of the year where it interviewed candidates for vacant Senior Management positions in the Departments of Customs, Corporate Services, and Domestic Taxes.
“The Board has consequently appointed the following; Kagumire as Commissioner Customs Department, Karisa as Commissioner Corporate services and Katungwesi as Assistant Commissioner Large Tax Payers Office” the statement noted.
The appointments will be effective come Tuesday 1st September 2020. URA had shortlisted 16 of 58 of its staff who had applied to fill the positions of those that were either sacked or those whose contracts weren’t renewed.
Amongst those that had applied for the said positions were Lukone Odeke, Jane Akello, and Abel Kagumire who had been acting Commissioner Customs.
